"Scrap-A-Thon 3" Day 1 – Patterned Paper Scrapbook Layout
I signed up for the Scrap-A-Thon 3 class from Nicole Jones 911. I love watching Nicole’s process videos on scrapbooking layouts and creating page kits. She has changed my entire approach for scrapbooking.
I was so stuck before and overwhelmed with where to start. I have a ton of scrapbooking supplies and so much paper, I could probably create scrapbook pages every day for the next twenty years and never run out of paper. I love paper and I have a lot of it. And, don’t get me wrong, it’s amazing to have so much paper that I’m sure I could find something in my stash to scrap any picture. BUT … seriously, if you have a hundred paper pads and bins of paper and cardstock, how the heck do you choose when you sit down to make a scrapbook page. I was overwhelmed and never seemed to get much scrapbooking done. I think I spent more time moving my stuff around and organizing it, than using it. It was very frustrating to be retired and to have the time to scrapbook, but still not get many layouts completed.
I started watching Nicole’s videos on creating Page Kits and I was hooked. Not only am I hooked, my scrapbook friends have jumped onto the Page Kit band wagon. Now, when we go to crops, we get pages completed. It’s not all smooth sailing, and we’re still trying to figure out what works or doesn’t, but at least we have somewhere to start.
Now, I create page kits and let that inspire me to create scrapbooking pages. Creating page kits is very liberating. Once you have a kit, it’s so much easier to focus on actually getting the scrapbook page completed.
My goal this year is to make scrapbooking an everyday activity and I know that the more I scrapbook, the easier it gets. And, the easier it gets, the more I want to scrapbook. When I saw Nicole’s Scrap-A-Thon 3 Class, I knew that it was just the thing I needed to get me motivated to scrap each day.
Ok, so Day 1 challenge was patterned paper. I went through my page kits and found one that was inspired by a floral paper from Basic Grey. In the page kit was a lot of different 6×6 papers and also one 3×12 scrap. So, I ended up using 8 different pattern papers on this layout. I love the colors of this layout and the use of the wood grain.
Just in case you are wondering about the picture, I went to Scrap Dat Crop in Mandeville, LA and anyone that registers early for the 3-day crop, gets entered into an Early Bird drawing and I won $200. It was so awesome and I wanted to create a scrapbook page to remember how much fun it was winning, sharing the money with my scrapbook friends and then all the shopping we did at the Crop.
