I retired in March 2017 from my job of 36 years and now have time to do what I love … which is anything crafty. My interests include Card Making, Scrapbooking, Embroidery, Drawing/Painting, Organizing, Decorating and anything artsy crafty.
I’m single and live with my two “Yorkie” girls (Bella and LillyBelle). I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. We moved to Slidell, LA when I was a freshman in High School and I attended Salmon High School in Slidell. I worked in Louisiana until 1995 when I got a job in Houston, TX. I lived in Texas from 1995 until 2015 when I decided to go back home. I moved back to Slidell in May 2015 to be closer to family.
Here’s a little more about my background and how I ended up where I am in life. My career has been in computer programming/business analysis. I started working at Shell Oil Company right out of High School. I got the job because my Mom had a programming job at Shell and she suggested that I apply for a job.
So, I went for an interview at Shell back in 1980 and was hired and my 36+ year journey at Shell began. I started in the Steno pool typing and after only working for a year, Shell got us our first personal computer and I fell in love with everything and everything to do with computers.
I worked for a few years typing and working with the computer and word processors and then decided to go to college to study computers and computer programming. I first attended University of New Orleans studying Computer Science and then a few years later, I enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans under the Computer Information Systems program.
I attended classes for 10 years while working full time and finally received my BS in Computer Information Systems from Tulane in 1995.
After receiving my degree, I moved to Houston, Texas and worked in IT for Shell as a Programmer/Analyst. I’ve had many jobs with Shell over the years, but my last position at Shell before I retired was as a Business Analyst supporting the Energy Components application used by Shell for Hydrocarbon Accounting.
I’ve always wanted to blog but just never had time since I was always busy working. Now that I’m retired, expect to see me posting blogs and videos … I’ve never been so happy or had so much fun in my life. I’m really enjoying retirement and hoping that it will continue for many years to come!!!
