Wine Shaker Birthday

My card inspiration today comes from my sister’s love of wine and all things New Orleans.  A Wine bottle Floral die and the Downton Abbey Fleur de lis embossing folder were just perfect for my sister’s Birthday card.
Using some hammered card stock from Create and Craft for the card base which was cut to 7″ x 10″ and then scored at 5″ to make  a 7″ x 5″ card.
IMG_4267Starting out with the Fleur de Lis embossing folder, I embossed a 4 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ panel and used 3 distress inks to add some color.  I had only intended to use the purple and green inks, but I accidentally used red because the last time I used my distress inks I must have gotten the wrong lids on two of my inks.  The background didn’t come out as I had intended but it was still pretty, so I just went with it.

I randomly inked my mat with the mini ink pads and sprayed water onto the inks using a mini mister.  I then used the smooshing technique and laid my embossed panel into the ink mixture and smooshed it around.  The ink was more intense than I wanted, so I sprayed more water onto the panel and then used a paper towel to pick up some of the color.

Using the Wine Floral die and some lavender Satin board, I made a die cut to use as the focal point for my card.  This die is the perfect size for a 5×7 card.
IMG_4264I made a frame for my Shaker from the Lawn Fawn Stitched rectangle dies.  The background of the shaker is from the Lawn Fawn 6×6 Watercolor Wishes Paper Pad.


Shaker was filled with a variety of sequins and chunky glitter.  A “Happy Birthday” sentiment finished off the card.
