"Scrap-A-Thon 3" Day 4 – Gel Press Scrapbook Layout

It’s Day 4 of the Scrap-A-Thon 3 with Nicole Jones 911 and the technique was using the Gell Plate.   I have a Gelli Gel Printing Plate; but I have to admit, until today, I haven’t used it.  I’m loving this class, because it made me use my Gelli.  Every time I saw that Gelli in my Craft Room, I would think “I need to try that out”.  And, yes, today, I finally got to use my Gelli Gel Printing Plate … so, today is a good day.

Nicole made using that Gelli look so easy, but OMG … it was not!!!   I think in my first few attempts, I added too much paint.  When I pressed the stamps on the Gelli plate, they slid around and paint went everywhere … it was on my hands, on the back of the stamps and anything and everything around where I was working.  (Note to self … make sure you clear off your entire table and cover your workspace before you try using the Gelli plate again!!!).
Needless to say, what I was planning to do with my print is not what I ended up doing,  because it did not come out the way I had intended and it just looked like a hot mess.  So, I tried again … this time using less paint and I was able to make two 5″x7″ prints.  The Gelli Plate that I had purchased was a 5″x7″ and I got it for card making, so not near big enough for a 12″x12″ scrapbook page.  I knew that using the prints for photo mats would cover up a lot of the print, but I thought that would be the best use for them … and I have to say, they look pretty awesome behind the photos.
Pictured below are the two prints that I made using the Gelli Plate and also some of the papers that I used for my layout.

My sister and I went on a cruise with our Mom in January 2019 and these pictures were from our cruise.  The pictures used in they layout were taken when we got off the ship in the Bahamas.  That’s me on the left and my little sister Jeannie on the right.

The title Life Preserver and Sun Screen came from the Crate Paper’s Pool Play 12×12 Chipboard stickers.   I used Meadow Thickers (White/Gold) for the CRUSIN’ title and Jewelry Box Thickers (White Glitter) used for the Sisters title.  I also used a quite a few stickers from the Vicki Boutin and Dear Lizzy sticker books and of course some enamel dots.  I had a lot of fun making this layout.

This was a fun (and messy) challenge.  It makes me soooooo happy that I used a tool in my craft room that I haven’t used before.  Oh Happy Day!!!
Four layouts done in four days and 27 Days to go!!!!
