LOAD 5-19 Day 11 – Favorite Moments
For LOAD 519 Day 11, the LOAD prompt was “Tell about a time you found a new appreciation for something” and/or use Arrows. I decided to do a layout using arrows and try a technique that I first saw while watching Missy Wheeden on YouTube. The technique that Missy used on her layout was to take 2″ squares of different patterned papers and cut them in half into triangles and then glue them to the background to create a chevron pattern. I thought I could do something similar with arrows.
On National Scrapbook Day, Hip Kit Club was having a sale on their past kits and I got the August 2018 kit which had some papers from Maggie Holmes Willow Lane. There was one paper called “Spread the Love” that was black and white on the “A” side and it had strips of different patterns on the “B” side. I cut apart the entire paper into strips and then used a banner punch to create arrows in random lengths.
Using the arrows, I created a geometric pattern by gluing them to my background (“B” side of the Shimelle Box of Crayons New Thought Paper) which was a tone on tone green blue paper.
Next I cut out around some of the arrows on one side and then cut it in half. I used the geometric arrow patterned papers across the double layout.
The backgrounds for my double layout came from DCWV “Just My Type” paper pad. There was a paper that was tone on tone green that had a floral pattern. I loved this paper but the middle of it had a large saying … it was one of those papers that could be put in a frame and hung on the wall, but I knew that if I placed my photo on a large enough mat, I could cover that up.
I fussy cut some butterflies from the Maggie Holmes Willow Lane Flutter paper.
Embellishments were from Willow Lane Foam Thickers, Maggie Holmes Flourish Ephemera and Pink Fresh Simple & Sweet. I added some sugar enamel dots in green and yellow and that finished my layouts.
Here’s a full picture of my double layout for LOAD 519 Day 11. The picture used for this layout are of my two Yorkies, Bella and LilyBelle.
