Cards with Cricut

One of my goals for 2018 was to use my Cricut Expression machine every month.  So, I used my Cricut to make birthday cards all year.
I wanted to make a special card for my niece’s birthday that included a place to put money.  I searched Cricut and found a purse card that had a space inside the card to put money or gift cards.  This purse card can be found in Cricut Access in the cartridge called Crazy Cute Cards and is free with Access.  I used double sided paper from a DCWV paper pad called “Wildflowers”.  It’s just gorgeous paper and I used up most of this paper pad making cards.  I wish I would have bought two of them when I had the chance.

The next card was for my brother’s birthday.  He loves water sports and is an avid Kite Surfer.  I searched Cricut and couldn’t believe it when I found a kite surfer cut file.  The background of this card was made with various distress oxide inks in blues.

I added glossy accents to the waves to make it appear as if the Kite Surfer was riding a real wave and to the kite and life jacket to make them appear plastic!  I love me some glossy accents … so much fun to add special effects to cards.

Up next was a card for my sister-in-law.   I fell in love with all of the cards in the Cricut catridge “Crazy Cute Cards” and couldn’t wait to make the Flower Pot card.  It’s so adorable and such a unique card design.  I loved making it so much, I made it again as a “Get Well” card for a good friend.  The only draw back to this card, is that it’s not clear how it works, so I decided it needed directions, and I used the Lawn Fawn “Push Here” stamp set to add some directions for the person receiving the card.  The card is 3-D and sits on a tabletop on it’s own … this card has similar dimension to an Exploding Box card.

This last card was created for my Nephew’s birthday and is from Kimberly Michelle Designs.  She created two awesome videos showing how to make this super cute Fish Bowl Shaker card.  My nephew loves aquariums and has several at home, so I thought he would get a kick out of getting one as a Birthday card.  Here are links to the tutorials from Kimberly …

Other cards that I made from the “Crazy Cute Cards” but don’t have pictures were also really fun to make.  I made the Nesting Dolls card as well as the Mother’s Day Bouquet card.
Crazy_Cute_CardsIf you have a Cricut, you should definitely check out the “Crazy Cute Cards” images.   These cards are really fun to make.  They can be a little challenging to assemble, but if you search on YouTube, you will find a lot of really helpful videos.  So, thanks to Melody Lane for helping me assemble the Flower Pot Card, Stacy Williams for helping me assemble the Purse Card and the Nesting Doll card.
