Rainbow Hugs & Kisses
It’s Day 2 of the Rainbow Maker Class at OnlineCardClasses.com. The technique that I tried out for this card was to make a plaid paper. I struggled quite a bit with this technique since the only stamp set that I had was the Stripe Builder stamp set from Concord & 9th and the thicker stripes are one big stamp. It was difficult to just ink up one of the stripes because my stamp pads were large, so I ended up having to apply the ink to 3 of the stripes and then remove the ink from the places where I didn’t want it to go. This stamp was also prone to stick and pull up the paper even though I had magnets holding down my paper in the Tim Holtz Stamping Platform.
I used the large “Hugs” stamp from the Concord & 9th stamp set and embossed with Ranger black embossing ink. I then stamped the “& KISSES” under the hugs with some Versa Fine black ink.
I originally was going to use a larger piece of the plaid paper that I created, but after embossing the large “Hugs” sentiment onto the plaid piece it didn’t look right to me. So, I ended up using a Stitched Postage Rectangle die to cut out a smaller piece of the plaid to fit onto an A2 size card.
I cut out a square piece from the 2nd largest die in the Lacy Squares Nested die set using a piece of paper from the Pebbles Garden Party paper pad and then layered it under the plaid piece. The plaid piece was popped up on some foam tape.
Using part of the left over plaid paper, I cut out some stitched hearts and stack one on top of another to add dimension. For a final touch, I added some glossy accents on top of the small plaid heart.
