Christmas Joy

Here’s another card for the “Merry Making” class that I’m taking at OnlineCardClasses.com.   The technique used for this card was embossing over an embossed background.  Super fun technique and very cool effect.
I took some craft card stock and added Versa Mark ink all over.  Next, I added some gold embossing powder and heat set it.  I repeated this process to ensure that the embossing powder completely covered the cardstock.

I then took an ornament stamp from Close to My Heart and stamped it all over the embossed gold background with some Versa Mark ink, added some red embossing powder and heat set all of the ornaments.
The red melted into the gold, sooooo pretty.

Using a scrap piece of craft card stock, I added red embossing powder using the same technique as the gold background.  I then used the red embossed cardstock to cut out a circle using a stitched circle die.  I also cut out a larger circle using a lace edge circle die.

Using a stamp from Stampin’ Up and the ornament punch from Stampin’ Up, I created a Christmas ornament to adorn the front of the card.

I layered the ornament onto the red circle with some foam tape.  Next, I added some lace and ribbon across the bottom of the card and then mounted the panel to the ivory card base.
